St Michael’s House Corporate Champion Volunteer Programme collaborates with corporates that share our vision and commitment to the people we support to understand their needs, wishes and to help them achieve their goals. In collaboration with Volunteer Ireland, #TeamSMH were delighted to welcome biopharmaceutical company AbbVie to St Michael’s House as part of their ‘Week of Possibilities’.
A day service located in Kilbarrack, Dublin 5 was chosen for a total transformation project. After in-depth discussions between AbbVie, Volunteer Ireland, service users and staff at Cill Bharróg day service a plan of action was drawn up.
On the last week of June 2024, Volunteer Ireland brought almost 200 AbbVie volunteers to Cill Bharrog and during that week the volunteers completely transformed the centre for the adults that attend this day service.
As an organisation, we were blown away by AbbVie’s positive attitude, their good humour, their attention to detail and their understanding of what needed to be achieved during their volunteer experience with St Michael’s House.
