Social Farming - Templeogue

Adults who attend our Templeogue Day Services regularly join #TeamSMH staff member, Marc Sagarzazu, on his farm in Prosperous, Co. Meath.  The farm consists of sheep, sheepdogs and horses.

Supported by staff, they participate in farming activities that are catered to their needs and abilities such as;

  • feeding the animals
  • fixing the animal bedding and rest areas
  • weighing and treating the animals if required.

They also participate in the day to day farming duties such as collecting and chopping wood, fencing and several timber projects.  Everyone's favourite is working with the sheepdogs.  The team walk the dogs, socialise the puppies and watch them herd the sheep.

Farming and farming activities are great for physical and mental health and the team in Templeogue look forward to their farm visits.
