Simon Brooke Award 2024

St. Michaels House have been awarded the 2024 Simon Brooke Award.

This award, presented by Clúid Housing, recognises excellence in the areas of housing policy and practice, which contribute to a vision of a society where everyone has a great place to live. It specifically relates to the topic of independence and accessibility in housing for people with disabilities.

St Michael's House's core mission is to work with service users to understand their needs and wishes and help them achieve their goals so people of all abilities can live a life of their choosing. This is a vision which is very much shared by Clúid.

The St. Michael’s House entry was submitted by Fire Prevention Officer, Isolde Veld. Isolde has significant experience working with fire evacuation problems, specifically around ageing and disability. From all at Clúid, congratulations to Isolde and the team.

This was a very challenging piece of work, and we congratulate Isolde Veld (Fire Officer and Project Lead), Deirdre Gill (Key Worker) and Sebastian Dean (Technical Services Manager) for all their efforts, supported by Garrett Curtis (Community Supports Manager), Joan Kelly (Service Manager) and Anne O’Brien (Tenancy Support Leader).

A great example of teamwork, and a cross-directorate approach to solving a complex problem.
