Pamela, who attends St Michael’s House Templeogue Day Services, recently shared that she had been missing the sense of connection and adventure she once experienced as part of a explorers/daytripping group before the COVID-19 pandemic. Determined to bring back monthly daytrips, she took the first step in creating something new: the Templeogue Explorers.
To mark the beginning of this new group, Pamela invited her friends Larry, Aisling, and Katie to join her on their very first outing – a shopping day in Newry. Accompanied by staff members Melissa and Sandra, the group set off for a fun-filled day packed with exploration, retail therapy, and plenty of laughs.
The adventurers visited various shopping centres and retail parks in Newry, enjoying the atmosphere and picking up a few treats along the way. True to the spirit of the ‘Templeogue Explorers’, it was more than just a shopping trip – it was about building friendships and creating positive shared travel experiences.
After a busy day of browsing and buying, the group made a well-deserved stop at The Black Bull Inn in Drogheda for dinner on their way home. It was the perfect end to a fantastic day out.
Pamela’s initiative is a wonderful example of St Michael's House values – promoting independence, inclusion, and community connection. The Templeogue Explorers are off to a fantastic start, and we cannot wait to see where they head next.
