The upcoming election on the 29th of November 2024 provides families, service users and carers with a unique opportunity to come together and advocate for the many challenges and issues facing people with disabilities.
It is essential that we ensure that the people with disabilities, along with their families and friends, are at the forefront of all political discussions.
The National Federation of Voluntary Service Providers (NFVPS) is the national umbrella organisation for voluntary and non-statutory agencies who provide services, and St Michael's House is a member of this umbrella group and I serve as a Director of their Board. We have produced a manifesto for the election detailing the challenges and issues and have also outlined the required solutions. I am attaching some documents which may assist you when candidates and canvassers approach you during this campaign.
I would encourage you to engage with the candidates, share your experiences, and highlight the importance of these issues and proposed solutions.
Many thanks for your consideration of this request, and for your ongoing support for St Michael’s House.
